Most baby car seats are suitable from newborns up to toddlers, typically 0–36kg (roughly 0–12 years). Some models are designed specifically for rear-facing infants, while others are forward-facing for older children.

Installation depends on both your car and the seat model. You can use the vehicle’s seat belt, ISOFIX/LATCH anchors, or a base. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and make sure the seat is snug—ideally it should move less than 2.5cm side-to-side or front-to-back.

Keep your child rear-facing as long as possible, ideally until they hit the seat’s maximum weight or height limit (usually 18–25kg or around 4 years old).

Car seats have an expiration date—usually 6–10 years from manufacture. Replace immediately after any moderate or severe crash, even if the seat looks fine.

Look for a 5-point harness, side impact protection, adjustable headrest, and compliance with safety standards (like ECE R44/04 or FMVSS 213). Breathable, non-toxic fabrics add comfort for your child.
