It is very very important to register too, you always want to send in the car seat's registration form, so you are notified if the manufacturer recalls the seat for any defect. The worst thing that could happen is you have a problem and you had no idea. If your child is wearing a heavy clothing, make certain that the harness straps are tight. Sometimes the clothes can be deceiving.  It may not be a bad idea to remove any heavy clothing when putting the child in the seat. Some safety agencies recommend this.
